"The meta-heuristic techniques may be applied to optimize distributed systems so as to increase effectiveness and minimize cost and time. Various kinds of meta-heuristic techniques are derived from nature and hence a lot of development is going on in this field. The most common meta-heuristic techniques used for the optimization of distributed system are Genetic Algorithm, Particle Swarm Optimization, Cuckoo Algorithm, Harmony Search Algorithm, Bat Algorithm, and Simulated Annealing.
